Our System

Hawaiian Kenpo JuJitsu is a modern expression of personal protection based on many of the traditional fighting systems that trace their roots back to Hawaii. At our core we are based on the system of Kajukenbo which is a blend of techniques and tactics from Karate, Judo & Jujitsu, Kenpo, Boxing, and the Filipino martial arts. We also include material from other systems we have trained in or been exposed to including, but not limited to JKD, BJJ, Silat, as well as modern training and tactics from W.Hock Hochheims Scientific Fighting Congress. We believe in evolution and using what works as our guide to training.

We utilize a 4-phase approach to training working from the most common ranges of combat and the application of tactics, techniques and training methods to develop each range. Our phase breakdown is as follows.

Phase 1 – Long range kicking and striking
Phase 2 – Close range kicking, striking, trapping & grappling
Phase 3 – Ground fighting and grappling
Phase 4 – Weapon tactics, techniques and applications

Our goal is to retain the essence of combat. We keep the spirit of the Hawaiian fighting warriors and their systems alive, but take the training into the 21st century.
